Scientific achievement is often measured by publication record but the most amazing data may be difficult to publish if it is poorly presented. Tamed Texts aims to facilitate favourable review of grants and publication of journal articles through critical evaluation and editing.
I didn't start out to be a scientific editor - I thought I would have my own lab someday. But, I have always been an avid reader and began editing the grant applications and manuscripts of my colleagues. I found this to be much more rewarding than I anticipated and decided to pursue scientific editing as a career. I have six years of experience as a post-doctoral fellow in the fields of molecular neuroscience and neuroimmunology. In addition, I have experience with molecular genetics from my doctoral degree. My research experience includes 14 years of laboratory experimentation, project management, and training of students. During this period, I co-authored 15 papers (7 as first author) published in peer-reviewed journals. For my first-author papers, I not only wrote the drafts but also the letters to the editor and the responses to the reviewers comments. This experience has taught me how the scientific publication process works and, in particular, the value of not only a well-written manuscript but also of expertly crafted letters to the editor and rebuttal letters.
Further details of my research experience can be found in my CV and on my LinkedIn profile.
